Hello there,
I'm new here and just found about this forum because I had a kind of stressful situation this weekend.
I live in Switzerland and like there's snow here and i love the renegade's concept, I bought one.
In Jeep official dealer, 2016, diesel, limited edition, 4x4 with 29700 km, just like new.
All going well until this weekend I decided to take him up to the mountain.
There was snow and ice and I have winter tyres so I puted it in snow mode and let's go.
As soon as it started to slide, and that on 15 centimetres of snow, I got messages on the dashboard like one by one, all te systems just shutdown!!!
When you are in the right place to used what you got you got stuck!!!
I turned it off and restarted it again to see if the driving modes would comeback as my all wheel drive traction but nothing.
I barely made to do a U-turn and got out of there very disapointed.
Did this ever happend to anyone of you?
Thanks in advance and I apologise for my errors in writing.
Cheers
W E L C O M E ! ! ! to the forum.
No, what you had go wrong was a failure. Sorry to hear.
The Renegade really does work pretty good in the snow.
I use Snow Mode while driving on the highways in the snow, because it really does feel like it grabs the road.
If I am playing in the snow, get stuck or just need to get the tires to spin (because sometimes you need the tires to spin) I use the Mud Mode because it turns off the Traction Control and the ESC, changes the how the power is distributed to the wheels (60/40 split rear/front) and gives you a little more initial power.
Snow Mode is great for what it is, but if the tires slip, even a little, power is taken away, brakes are applied and the Jeep does what ever it can to keep the tires from spinning.
The first issue would be to correct the failure. In most cases with our Computer Controlled Renegade, would be to get the battery checked. Not a voltage test, but a load test. If the battery is weak, even a little, we will get error messages, usually many of them.
Make sure that the battery terminals are clean and tight.
... if something like this were to happen again, try turning off the vehicle, disconnect the battery (negative terminal by way of the 'Quick Disconnect'. Wait 10 seconds or so and reconnect the battery cable. In most cases, this will reset the computers and modules enough to get you going again.
Battery. I would get the battery test first. Our stock batteries only last about 3 years, yours just might be due.
I have a 2016 and had to replace the battery twice already.
Good luck.
