Just had a software upgrade to my 2015 Renegade . Now when I push the inside door lock button on exiting the vehicle , the horn sounds once (very annoying ). Checked all settings and nowhere can I find an option to silence it . Anybody know?

Hi cruisesinc,

Can you PM our page with your VIN, contact information and what software update you recently had done? I would like to look into this further for you.

I am having the same issue since I brought mine in for an oil change and they ran a bunch of software updates. Very curious what you find out. :)
Having same issue. Been told it's the BCM and on back order. Ugh!
Hi Everyone,

I got an update from our engineers. The horn honk after locking the vehicle using the controls on the interior armrest is a normal feature of the vehicle. It is a security measure that all Renegades were equipped with off the production line to alert you that there is a door is open when you're locking your vehicle. The latest software update included this feature to ensure all vehicles had this security measure implemented which might be why some of you noticed it starting only after you had the update performed. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused and let me know if you have any additional questions!

Thanks for the information .
Silly annoying feature that I can do without .
In respect to my neighbors , I have learned to not touch that door lock button when exiting .
Just always take the key fob out of my pocket to lock the car without the loud Italian horn .
That now is the only reason I ever have to handle the key fob at all .
I am not sure what others are hearing, however mine is not a little safety honk. After door is shut my horn blares loudly. One of the attractions for keyless to that we do not have to locate our keys, merely have them with us. I believe we all know the door is open when we push the button while leaving the vehicle. Can we get this feature shut off?
I could perhaps live with it if the horn wasn't such a loud long blare

Hi Sheila,

Unfortunately since the horn alert is a security measure that all Renegades are equipped with it can't be turned off. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes and will pass feedback from this thread to the brand.

So it is an alert that a door is open when I push the lock button ?
Duh ! The door is in my grasp , of course I know that .
This is such a annoying feature . Probably a Fiat idea ?
If you go into your user settings you can change the horn to only sound when you want.
