are there no interior lights other than the two at the top of the windshield by the sun roof switch? I cant find anything in th eowners manual other than the dash lights. Seems like there ought to be a dome light or whatever that comes on when you open the doors, no?

thanks

So is there a way to have them come on when you open the door?
Yes there is Dianne, Im out of town now but when I get back I'll go through the owners manual again and see if I can figure out how I did it
Hello,

I just took ownership of the 2016 Jeep Renegade Limited 4 X 4. So far all seems fine but I have noticed one thing. Above my head where you turn on the interior lights are two buttons. One is red and is for calling 911. Not sure what the other is. Both buttons have a red light that (I assume) is supposed to be on while the engine is running. I have noticed that those lights are one only once in a while. Yesterday they were on for a trip to the store and on the way back, they were out. I've seen the lights on during the day as well as after dark. Is this normal or do I need to visit my Jeep dealer?

I'd hate to take it in for service already.

Happy New Year!

Hi Bruce,

I would recommend contacting/visiting your local dealership for further diagnosis. You can also bring it to their attention when you go in for a routine maintenance appointment if you prefer. Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

Hello,

I took my Jeep to the service department yesterday and they guy there tried to tell me that it doesn't work if your headlights are set to AUTO. I told him that I don't believe this is true. I said that those 2 red lights come on about 10% of the time...day or night. I even tried switching my headlights to ON and those lights would still not come on. He reluctanly scheduled an appointment for next Tuesday. This vehicle only has 600 miles on it so I shouldn't be having issues already.

Thanks,

Bruce

Hi Bruce,

Pages 423-427 of your Owner's Manual talk about the Assist Call buttons:

"If the 9-1-1 Call system detects a malfunction, any of the following may occur at the time the malfunction is detected, and at the beginning of each ignition cycle:
• The overhead console lights located on the Assist and 9-1-1 buttons will continuously be illuminated red.
• The Device Screen will display the following message 'Vehicle device requires service. Please contact your dealer."
• An In-Vehicle Audio message will state "Vehicle device requires service. Please contact your dealer.'"

I would recommend bringing this to your dealership's attention during your appointment on Tuesday. Just PM our page if you have any additional questions or concerns!

I but in a very bright LED light in the rear it helps a lot. The Renegade does not come with much interior lighting. I also but in LEDs from China. Now there is cheep Chinese crap LEDs and good Chinese crap. Depends on how cheep you are as to the fact if you will get good lights!
