Key stuck in the ignition

Just thought I would give a heads up, last week my key would not come out of the ignition. Unable to leave the car - I headed straight to the dealer. Took them about 15 min to get the key out and once they got it out it would not start.

Fast Forward to about 2 hours later, they found it needed 4 updates, did the one they thought was the problem and told me I should schedule an appointment for the other 3 as they would take an additional 3 hours or so. In the meantime, the update did not fix the problem so they decided my key fob was bad and ordered a new one.

Said they would put me in a loaner if they had any available but none were - he did say I could call if I continued to have issues and they would put me in a loaner but fingers crossed it doesn't happen again and we will call you when the fob comes in.

Next day it did it to me again so I called and they put me in a loaner. I called yesterday to follow up on the status of my vehicle. I was told the expected delivery date of the fob will be the 12th.

It takes approximately 8 business days to get a key fob for these babies!

I just received an update from the dealer and am now being told an ETA of June 1st. This will put it out of comission for a month.
Sorry to hear about your concerns, Wendi! I'm glad the dealership has you in a loaner vehicle. Renegade key fobs have been on backorder, but we're working to get them out to dealerships ASAP. Keep us posted on your situation! - Jack, Jeep Social Care Specialist

It is awful! I use my vehicle for part of my income and I'm out of commission. It makes no sense to meach and makes me rethink the purchase of this vehicle!
Update, a new ETA on the fob...June 14th at this point. Chrysler corp is useless as far as help goes and the dealer is even worse....I loved this car but at this point sadly, I am sorry I ever purchased it, and this is will ensure I NEVER purchase a chrysler vehicle again!!!!!! The ETA has been moved 3 times to date and puts my car out of commission a month and a half - and that's if the ETA is not changed again!
I am A master tech for Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram.I myself own a push button start Renegade Trailhawk,But the turn key start Renegades they have a reprogram for the ipc module and the real problem is the Ignition switch housing not the key fob.The down side to this is as i write this they are on a slight backorder from the supplier. This is only 2015 renegades,if you remove the column housing cover there is a pull release to get the key to remove,we have done this for customers so they can still operate there vehicle.sorry i know how this can be inconvenient for ya.
