Latitude 4X4 Issues

I've had my 2015 Latitude about a month now. I live in northern Nevada, in a small mining town and purchased the Jeep up in Idaho. I called the dealer the other day with a couple of issues concerning the Jeep.

First is that there is a squeeking noise when I step on the break. This happens usually when I first get in the Renegade. Second is that there is a slight hesitation when I first step on the gas.

Dealer says that he talked to the head mechanic and he said that both issues were common in the Renegade Latitude. Really...

I have a 87 YJ, my wife drives a 2013 Grand Cherkoee, I traded in a 2013 Wrangler Sport for the Renegade and I also own a 2005 2500 Dodge diesel, so I am fimilar with these rigs but this is the first time experience a "common jeep issue". Anyone else having these issues? Aside from the annoyance of the squeek ( it's loud), not bad ride...

I think you will find brake squeak to be normal in a lot of new vehicles, has to do with compsition of pad material. Are several fixes, but normalily noise returns. Might not be hesitation if you have auto trans. Is trans looking for proper gear, remember it it has 9 to choose from. Have Trailhawk and sometimes it feels like a bump or hesitation at slow speeds, mechanic in family says, after driving, he feels it is trans finding proper gear. Anoying for sure, but I do like the ride and fuel economy.

Thanks for the feedback. Yea, I've heard of "fixes" for noisey breakes but this is a first for me. Same as the hesitation, someone mentioned drivetrain stuff. My wife loves driving it. I'll survive...;)
I've had my 2016 Renegade Latitude for one week and now it won't start!!! It turns over and tries to start but then dies. Any thoughts? I also experienced the squeaky brakes. Hoping I didn't get a lemon

Husband has been mechanic all his life, says brake squeal caused by pad material. Is hi metal or ceramic to give long life and not be affected by heat. He said Renegade target buyers are 20 somethings who normally drive more aggressive. I have 2.4 engine and do not have a hesitation problem, but I only have 5000 miles on mine.
The squeal went away and my 2.4 engine seems a bit better when I get aggressive on the pedal. Also someone on another post says that the Renegade starts off in 2nd gear. Says ( I think I remember correctly) that you can move it to 1st gear befoe going foreward to eliminate the hesitation issue.
There is a bulletin on brake noise, they updated the brakes pads, need to replace all 4 caliper bracket bolts, they have a thread locker that when installed got on the mounting surface of the spindle and caliper bracket need to remove the residue from mounting surfaces and 4 new bolts installed, cut the front rotors and install the updated pads.Upgraded alot of 2015 Renegades at work with the new pads no complaints after the repair.

I have problems with the breaks squealing also, I find after letting it warm up and pumping them a couple of times really hard seems to help.

I had the same problem with the battery dieing first time I jump started it the second time I had it towed to the dealership they tested it for a parasitic drain couldn't find anything wrong charged it up and gave it back. I think it's just a cheap battery and needs a bigger one problem is there is no room to install a bigger one.

Hi TLD,

Sorry to hear about this! If you decide to visit your local dealership I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know.

Unfortunately the nearest dealership is 600 km away over a dirt road with no cell service!!! I live in Labrador City, Newfoundland and the nearest dealer is in Baie Comeau, Quebec.
Almost one year of owning my Jeep and it happens again!!!
I am so mad!!!

Have you had any issues since? It has happened again to my Jeep almost a year later! Wondering if the cold temperatures may be causing this? It's -20 here
Hey there TLD, welcome. Just came down from Wildhorse, Nevada. It was -40 just two days ago ( nights)... And no I didn't drive the renegade up there. I've got a Dodge 2500 diesel with a block heater for that. Would suggest you get a block heater for your neck of the woods.

23 years in Idaho, I was frends with 2 sisters fom Newfoundland. Still in touch with one living in Calgery.

Oh yea, the breaks are still squealing when I go in reverse ( espically in the cold). Good luck and stay warm...
Thanks! I do have a block heater and use it daily. Temperatures here requires it haha.
Just so frustrating ☹

It still was having issues starting so I put a bigger battery in and no problems since.
