New tranny and or engine in the future, anyone know?

I love our Renegade, bought it as wife could no longer step up into anything higher. But...

We all know the engine is not anything to write home about, and the tranny is odd. I think it often confuses itself.

Any hope there might be improvements to either, in the future? Or are we stuck with what we have?

We plan to buy a new 2021 or 2022 model, in near future, but waffling about having same issues.

Are we wishing in vain?

Thanks.

Could try stepping up into a nice used cherokee with the V6. Still has the 9 speed but you have a stronger engine and more room. I don't mind the tigershark in the renegade but in the cherokee I wouldn't suggest...
True, but then I'd be driving, for all intents, just another SUV. Hard to tell a Cherokee or Compass from any of the hundreds of other SUVs out there, at more than up close :)

When my wife's health issues precluded her being able to step up into the Wrangler, the Renegade was a better option. And it's looks are just different enough, just as the Gladiator looks so much different from all the other run of the mill pick ups.

My question was more wishful thinking, and we will most likely go with a new Renegade.

I have had my Renegade for four years. Not had a bit of trouble with it. There was a software update a few months ago that did improve a few things including the burning oil issue. 35000 miles so far. Tranny does seem to get confused at times, but when driven with a little more intension that problem seems to go away. You can always manually shift it which is more fun anyway.
