Hi Doug,Yesterday a new and annoying Message and light came on. SERVICE PASSIVE ENTRY SYSTEM. I replaced the FOB battery and double checked the voltage. Also have tried turning passive OFF in the radio menu. Any ideas or input on message? Passive entry still seems to work just fine.
Hi Ryednock,Same issue with my 2015 Jeep Renegade. Twice to the dealership (and I really hate the dealerships in this area) and just told that there is a bulletin out and they don't have a fix, yet. Using my google skills, it seems like the issue has been going on for since late 2015 (according to posts on another forum). How long does it take to fix this issue and will the warranty still be good?
Thanks for the info, I didn't take my car back to the delaer because I didn't feel confortable with the answer the "service manager" gave me. I will go back and show him your post, maybe he will understand.I had the same thing happen to me after only 71 miles.
They said it was a passive entry module that failed.
They replaced it and so far it is working and no more service message.
The one they replaced was somewhere around the lift gate.
It took about an hour to get it done.
I will go look for the paper work that they gave me after work and see if they give a part number or even the error code that if would help. I'm not sure if that information is on there, but I'll give it a look an see. Thanks for the info, I didn't take my car back to the delaer because I didn't feel confortable with the answer the "service manager" gave me. Hi Kendra,Hello, I have the same issue with my 2017 Jeep Renegade. Took it to a dealership and they said they have never heard of this issue with my particular vehicle. They decided to replace the radio frequency component, which they said would only take about 2 hours max. 2 days later I get my Jeep back and within 30 minutes of driving it the light is back on!! I am taking it to another dealership today (the one I brought it from) and am hoping they can fix the issue. My Jeep had less than 2k miles on it and I brought it brand new from the dealership with 12 miles on it!! Not very happy with this issue and even less impressed that it seems the mechanics don't have a clue how to fix it.
Mine did that and the fix was to replace the push button .Had nothing to do with radio frequency, the fob it batteries!2016 latitude 4x4 passive entry light & service notice just started only 12k mileage. My dealership wants $125.00 when I get there to "diagnosis" the issue. Shouldn't this be covered under warranty? It's an enclosed system and I've only owned the jeep approximately 16 months. Also, has anyone noticed their traction control cutting power to the vehicle during turns at low speed on clear sunny days? My jeep keeps leaving me stranded with no power in traffic.
The fix for mine was to replace the push button itself. Haven't had any problems since they did that!Hi Kendra,
If you're interested, please send a private message with your VIN and servicing dealership to me. I would be happy to get a Customer Care case opened for you so we can reach out to the dealership as well during service.

Apparently, there were 2 software updates that my Jeep needed.I've had my Renegade for 8 months and got the same 'service passage entry system' message this past week @ 13000 miles. Called the dealer and the service manager I spoke to was very rude (which the dealer WILL be hearing about). Taking mine in Monday evening after work to pick up a rental so they can figure out whatever it is that's wrong.
