The dealer says it will void my warranty if I have an after market hitch put on. Any ideas?

your dealer is full of shit. My dealer had an aftermarket hitch installed when I bought the Jeep. A word of caution, the curt hitch only fits the FWD and not the 4x4. They had to return it and get a drawtite hitch, which fits perfectly.
Boy, am I glad I got in this forum already. I havn't recieved my new Jeep yet but I already started getting "stuff" for it. It's a Latitude 4X4 and did not come with a hitch. Thanks for the info. as I will order the drawtite for sure.
Just remember when you get a hitch or tow package with the renegade you get a 4 pin plug. The information package says you get a 4 and 7 pin plug.Chrysler says it is a typo . The renegade is only wired for a 4 pin plug. You would have to get an after market kit to convert to a 4/7 pin.I got a kit for my renegade from etrailer , kit etbc7
12/16/2015 I will start installing a " Renegade Ready hitch " on my Renegade. It is the closest I could find to an OEM hitch without spending all that money. Will post a picture, when it is finished. Also at the same time, I am replacing the wheel bolts with studs and acorn nuts. Have had it since Nov 2015 and have
already replaced the tire inflator with a full size 18" tire and rim.
Anyone here attempt to tow with the 1.4L engine and six speed transmission?

I just installed the renegade ready hitch and it works/looks great. It also doesn't affect the clearance which is huge since the aftermarket ones I've seen practically scrape the ground. Costs about 400 bucks with the wiring kit and took about 8 hours. Towing capacity rates to 2000 lbs. tows ok with 1.4 L but might have issues with 4 adult passengers and towing

Wow, nice pics and real nice job. Something I will have to get my son-in-law involved with as I am a "bionic old man" ... It should be able to pack my Ranger 800 crew side by side or my 12 ft. fishing boat with no problem. ( I save the big stuff for the old Dodge 2500 diesel).

No! It will not! See, my other Post about aftermarket parts.
