Good to have you with us!
Hi Bob! How do you like it over the Patriot?
Hi Bob! How do you like it over the Patriot?
I do, but there are some things I have to get used to.
I also traded in my 2013 freedom edition patriot (Oscar mike) for a 2015 Renegade latitude 1.4L turbo 6spd manual w/sky view and navi. Love it! Really didn't like the CVT Trans that came in the patriot. Very sluggish. Patriot was nice accept for that one big issue. The renegade is sweet.. I hope it gets the cult following like the wrangler.
Just added a hitch, to haul my trailer. Also got rid of spray can spare tire, replaced with a full size 18" wheel and tire, scissor jack and tools. It took about seven hours to install the hitch. Did not get Sky View, because the Patriot had a sun roof which leaked after three years. They did not think my extended warranty covered it, fixed it with some O ring lube, but swore off of sun roofs. Sure like the looks of the Renegade.
The spay can spare is wierd. Where did you mount the spare and jack? I have space in my cargo area..but it's where the roof goes when I have the top down.
In the storage area in the rear.
The can probably works fine. But I live in rural Nevada. And along highway 50 heading toward Ely, there is no cell phone reception. So if you have a blow out you can only sit and wait until an NHP comes along. It just depends on where you live and the conditions. Maybe you figure something out. You did not say what size tires you were running? With the 18" on mine, the storage compartment has plenty of room on the sides and above with the lid closed. Maybe a few measurements might tell you more?
Yeah I wouldn't wanna be stuck out there w/out a spare..yeah it prob does.. I'm in northern nj 40 min outside NYC. so I guess I shouldn't be to concerned..not a spot w/out cell here..lol. I'm just old school I guess. I have 16 in wheels..plenty of room for a spare, but I won't be able to take off the sky roof cause there will be nowhere to store the panels w/the spare in there
Hey Bob, welcome. I just came back from a couple of weeks in Wildhorse, Nevada ( got a cabin up there). Temp reached about -34 F. the night before New Years. Good snow this year & already ice fishin on the res. The Renegade won't plow thru 3' drifts up here but it gets along fine... Looking for a hitch myself.
Will post some pictures of the installation as soon as possible. It took me a while as I have been traveling. I bought a kit and installed myself. The best detailed instructions I have seen.
